Runway Analysis and Weight&Balance

Runway analysis facilitates the determination of the maximum allowable
takeoff for specific airport conditions with appropriate take-off speeds
V1/VR/V2 and various airplane configurations.
The limitations observed are those specified in the FAA (JAA) approved
Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) for the airplane. Runway analysis data can be
provided in form of Runway Analysis manual with full description for all
intended airports (regular, charter and alternates).

Airport data for runway analysis calculation are taken from worldwide
database of airport characteristics, which is compiled from government and
industry sources. Runway analysis can also be provided on an "as needed"
basis for planning purposes. The runway analysis can be obtained by
customer via Internet or in paper copy.
The maximum allowable takeoff weight is determined by the most limiting
of the following:
- Maximum certified takeoff weight (structural limit);
- Climb limited weight - the maximum weight at which the FAA(JAA) required
minimum climb gradients in second segment and final segment are achievable
for the airport elevation and temperature;
- Field length limited weight - the maximum weight at which the
airplane complies with FAR(JAR) Part 25 rules governing required runway
length, slope, airport elevation, temperature, and wind;
- Obstruction limited weight - the maximum weight at which
obstruction clearance required by FAR(JAR) Part 25 can be demonstrated.
The obstruction limited weight is a function of obstruction height and
distance, temperature, airport elevation, runway slope, and wind; unless
otherwise specified on the Airport Analysis, a straight out flight path
along the extended runway center line is assumed for obstruction
clearance;
- Brake energy capacity - this characteristic of the airplane is
verified to ensure that the allowable weights shown on the analysis are
in compliance with the brake energy limitations;
- Tire speed - this speed is verified to ensure that the allowable
weights shown on the analysis are in compliance with the tire's speed
limitation;
Tables of runway analysis give also ability for customer to perform
procedures of reduce thrust (assumed temperature).
